First off... yes, I'm the same Mark Oristano who used to be a sportscaster and broadcast Dallas Cowboys games on radio.
Now, though, I'm both an actor and photographer in Dallas-Fort Worth, and I understand what it's like to be on either side of the portrait lens. My photography eye has been honed through years of work, study, and critique. My "mentor" is the great L.A. portrait photographer, Michael Grecco, under whom I've studied. Michael believes that too many photographers in the digital era think they can make a mediocre photo great with Photoshop retouching. But that's not true.
Michael believes you have to make the photograph great in the shooting, with the best possible lighting - lighting that fits the photo perfectly - and with an understanding of technique that best allows you to express your artistry. For this reason, some of my sessions may seem to take longer than others, but that's only because I want to get it right.
Actor headshots are not merely thrown together; the best are a result of teamwork between photographer, stylist and subject.
